Victoria Arlen is a senior of Exeter High School who won a
gold medal and three silver medals swimming at the 2012 Paralympic Games in
London.
Great achievements do not come without monumental
sacrifices.
Arlen suffers from transverse myelitis, a rare neurological
virus that causes inflammation in her spine. Treatments have saved Arlen’s life
from a near death parilysis from the waist down. However,
the paralysis in her
legs is irreversible.
Gov. John Lynch dubbed Friday to be Victoria Arlen Day
throughout the state of New Hampshire. Lynch will attend EHS’s scheduled Spirit
Week Pep Rally on Friday Sept. 21 to present Arlen with an epic speech.
